Since 2017 Yogazeit has been delivering evidence-based, trauma informed Yoga and Mindful Movement Education to support healthy bodies and minds for the young and young at heart.

Moving forward, Act Belong Commit’s Mentally Healthy Schools Program aims to continue empowering students and educators with the resources and activities developed by Yogazeit to reduce stress and anxiety, support student resilience and improve physical and mental fitness, leading to happy and healthier futures.

The short courses listed below are suitable for educators, yoga teachers, health professionals and parents seeking to learn a range of Yoga and Mindful Movement practices to support wellbeing in and out of the classroom.

Benefits of the Mindful Movement Education Program

Teachers will benefit from learning curriculum-aligned and trauma-informed Mindful Movement brain breaks that include breathing, movement and relaxation exercises. This professional development is thoughtfully written by teachers, for teachers and anyone working with children and adolescents. This training is designed to educate and empower educators with Yoga and Mindfulness founded on the principles of education, ethics and research.

Aligned with the Australian Curriculum and National Health and Wellbeing Framework. Mindful Movement brain breaks will support students with learning ready states (‘lighting up the brain’), foster social-emotional learning, reduce stress and anxiety, help with transitions and regulate behaviour – all while supporting teachers’ health and wellness.

Mindful Movement – Beginner (1 hour)
Suitable for groups up to 30 people

This interactive practical professional learning will introduce you to chair yoga and mindfulness practices for your classroom. Based on social-emotional learning, you’ll learn and practice 5 practical fun and engaging chair yoga and mindfulness tools (breathing, stretches and relaxation) to support transitions, behaviour and engagement. The perfect introduction to your wellbeing journey.


Mindful Movement – Intermediate (2 hours)
Suitable for groups up to 30 people

This interactive practical professional learning is a longer version of the one-hour introduction course providing chair yoga and mindfulness practices for your classroom. Based on social emotional-learning, you’ll learn and practice 10 practical fun and engaging chair yoga and mindfulness tools (breathing, stretches and relaxation) to plant the seeds for healthy bodies and healthy minds. Course includes mini curriculum for all participants.


Mindful Movement – Advanced (3.5 hours)
Suitable for groups up to 30 people

This comprehensive, interactive practical professional learning is designed to empower you to lead a mindful school community and enrich learning, health and wellbeing for students and teachers alike. Course includes curriculum and resources with over 60 easy-to-use Mindful Movement exercises/brain breaks to support instant implementation.


Certified Children Yoga Teacher Training (3-12 year olds)
Certified Teenage Yoga Teacher Training (13-21 year olds)
Delivered by Certified Yoga Educator

These two courses were designed and developed by Yogazeit (in collaboration with teachers and health professionals), certified with Yoga Australia, and aligned with the Australian School Curriculum Standards.

Both courses consist of 30 hours training, delivered with five hours of pre-learning and three days of face-to-face facilitation, equipping you with the skills to teach evidence-based, trauma-informed Yoga and Mindful Movement practices.

Learn a variety of breathing techniques and understand how to teach a trauma-sensitive class to support inclusion and accessibility for everybody. Discover classroom management techniques and learn how to develop your lesson plans for yoga at school, at home, or in the community. Teach developmentally appropriate and safe Mindful Movement/Yoga while fostering the joy of play and learning through yoga-related games.

Participants will graduate from this training as certified Children/Teenage Yoga Teachers with skills and knowledge to bring Yoga and Mindfulness to children at school or in the community. All participants will receive a digital copy of the resources and certificate of completion, confirming attendance and skills learned.

Yoga teachers, this course is recognised by Yoga Alliance and can contribute to your required teacher training hours.

School teachers/educators, this course is a recognised Professional Development opportunity that meets ACARA and AITSL Standards.

Certified Indigenous Youth Yoga Teacher Training (online)
Delivered by Certified Yoga Educator

This comprehensive Social and Emotional Wellbeing focused online training course, termed ‘Deadly Minds™’, is suitable for those working with indigenous youth, either at a school, in the community, or in a health setting.

The course equips Australia’s next generation of indigenous leaders with skills to teach their communities practical ways to combat stress, improve social-emotional skills, support learning, and boost mental, cultural, physical, and spiritual health.

Deadly Minds™ is an innovative program which emerged through Yogazeit’s learning and collaboration via extensive outreach projects with Indigenous children and young people, Elders, remote schools, and vital community stakeholders from various language groups across Western Australia.

Driven by the desire of remote community members to learn culturally relevant, trauma-informed Yoga and Mindfulness teaching skills, Deadly Minds™ became the world’s first Indigenous Youth Yoga Teacher Training in 2022 and became digital in 2024.

This uniquely developed program has been guided, informed, and co-developed specifically with and for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Australia. A limited number of scholarships are available annually.
