Act Belong Commit presents volunteer award

Posted 31 May 2024

Act Belong Commit Campaign Manager, Rodney Glossop, was a guest speaker at the City of Rockingham’s 2024 Volunteer Recognition Evening on 15 May 2024.

Rodney spoke about the mental health benefits of volunteering, and also presented the Act Belong Commit Volunteer of the Year Award. The winner of this category was Gregg Oughton, the Founder of Kings Park Warriors, in recognition of his efforts in building a thriving community supporting people impacted by brain injuries.

The City of Rockingham Volunteer Recognition Evening is held annually during National Volunteer Week in May. The event aims to recognise and celebrate dedicated volunteers who give their time, passion and expertise to the community.

The Act Belong Commit category aims to recognise individuals who have made an outstanding commitment to the principles of Act Belong Commit through their volunteering efforts. This includes encouraging and supporting people to get active, building connected and engaged communities that provide people with a sense of belonging, and providing opportunities for people to do something meaningful such as volunteering and helping others.
