Forever Fit

Most people know that regular physical activity is good for your health. But you don't have to exercise at a vigorous level to achieve health benefits.

Forever Fit is a low impact exercise program designed for people over the age of 50 who may be living with health conditions. It is a gentle physical activity program suitable for anyone who hasn't done any exercise in a while. The classes give you the opportunity to exercise at your own pace in a friendly atmosphere, and are run by accredited exercise professionals specifically trained in managing safe, low to moderate intensity physical activity programs.

For ages 60+

Where: Hainsworth Centre - Hainsworth Ave, Girrawheen
When: Mondays and Wednesdays 9:00am to 10:00am
Cost: $3.50 per session

Where: Phil Renkin Recreation Centre - Lisford Ave, Two Rocks
When: Tuesdays and Fridays 11:00am to 12:00pm
Cost: $3.50 per session

For some people, this time of year is particularly difficult as the change of season can lead to a decrease in physical activity and leave people feeling unhappy and isolated from friends and family.

New research shows that acting, belonging and committing can prevent mental 'ill' health in older adults

This just released ground-breaking research showcased the results of a three year longitudinal study in Ireland. A team of international researchers from Spain, Denmark and Australia investigated whether Acting-Belonging-Committing prevented depression, anxiety and cognitive decline in people over 50. The results were very clear: they found the more people Acted, Belonged and Committed, the less likely they were to suffer from depression, anxiety and a decline in their cognitive functioning over those years.
