Competition Details

Who can enter:
All school students in Western Australia.

What to do:

Create an A3 poster with a slogan encouraging fellow students to lead an active life for a mentally healthy mind.

Entrants are welcome to create their own slogan or use one of the examples below:

“Live Active, Live Happy”
“Active Body, Healthy Mind'
"Feeling Fit, Feeling Good"

Posters can be digitally created or made by hand as long as they are 2D.

Keep mentally, physically, socially and spiritually active: take a walk, say g’day, do yoga, read a book, do a crossword, dance, play cards, stop for a chat, meditate...

Join a book club, take a cooking class, be more involved in groups you are already a member of go along to community events...

Take up a cause, help a neighbour, learn something
new, set yourself a challenge,
help out at the school or meals
on wheels...

There are a number of ways you can incorporate the Act-Belong-Commit message into your advert, some ideas include:

  • Creatively explain the act-belong-commit mental health message.

  • Inspire others to keep mentally healthy by using personal testimonials referring to the three Act-Belong-Commit steps.

  • Use signage or items that display the  act-belong-commit logo in the shots.

Prizes are awarded to:

1st Place:
Category winners will receive an individual prize and win a prize for their school.

Runners Up:
Runners up from each category will receive an individual prize and win a prize for their school.

People's Choice:
The poster that receives the most votes will be awarded a prize.

 


Winners:

Winners and runners up for each category will be announced on the 24th September 2012
via the Act-Belong- Commit website, Twitter, Facebook and directly contacted.

Prizes will be awarded at the annual Act-Belong-Commit Awards ceremony on 10th October 2012.

The winner of the People’s Choice prize will be announced on the 15th October 2012.

School Resource Packs

Mentally Healthy WA, the Department of Sport and Recreation, KidsMatter and MindMatters are working together to create a resource pack for schools and teachers highlighting the important link between physical activity and staying mentally healthy — and how it affects learning.

Resource packs will be sent out to all participating schools at the end of October 2012 along with the winning competition poster.

Finalists will be in the running to win the People’s Choice Award. Keep an eye out to see if you or anyone in your school is a finalist and encourage your school community to vote!
